Q. What kind of accommodations do you have?
A. We rent unfurnished one and two room suites for single or double occupancy.

Q. Are there any openings available presently?
A. Availability varies from month to month. Those interested in moving to Summerhill are advised to complete the waiting list application process to ensure placement.

Q. Do you have respite accommodations?
A. We can provide furnished respite rooms depending on room availability.

Q. How are basic room rates determined?
A. With the exception of four two-room suites, all of our rooms have different sizes and shapes. Since one basis for monthly cost is room size, there is a varied range in basic rates.

Q. What is included in the basic charge?
A. The basic room rate includes: 24 hour nursing staff, 3 daily meals, housekeeping, utilities, transportation to local appointments such as doctor visits, trips to the library, etc. Factored into the monthly rate is some basic daily assistance with monitoring medications, bathing, dressing etc. A medical and physical assessment is conducted for each incoming resident to determine the level of care, (acuity level), needed. If need for assistance is more than that included in the basic rate, an additional acuity rate will be determined.

Q. Can you tell me more about your food service?
A. The meals are served in our central dining room or, in special circumstances, brought to the resident's room. All of the meals are homecooked by our professional chef.

Q. Can you accommodate residents with dietary restrictions?
A. We cater to each person's dietary needs in accordance with doctor's orders and a nutritional consultant. The kitchen staff prepares each individual plate that is then brought directly to the resident.

Q. Do you provide laundry service?
A. We do launder clothing, sheets and towels.

Q. Are there any other fees?
A. There is an $18.00 per month telephone fee for local calls and an emergency call button. Long distance calls will appear on your monthly bill. There is a oppitional $75.00 per year Sunshine Club fee for birthday parties and special events.

Q. Can I have my own telephone?
A. Each room comes equipped with a telephone and with its own extension number. The phones are programmed to a central line and messages can be received if the resident is out. Messages are then passed on to the residents.

Q. Is the facility air conditioned?
A. All common areas are air conditioned.

Q. What level of nursing care do you provide?
A. Comprehensive support services are provided 24 hours a day by Summerhill's caring staff. That includes assistance with personal needs such as dressing, bathing and eating. Licensed nurses are on duty to monitor health indicators to minimize the impact of any health condition. They may monitor and administer medications as well as order them from the pharmacy. They also make doctor appointments and arrange for transportation.

Q. Can you explain more about the transportation services?
A. We drive residents to local appointments. Transportation to more distant locations can be arranged for a fee. There are regular trips to town for shopping excursions and other activities.

Q. Can I bring my own car to Summerhill?
A. Yes. Residents may bring their own automobiles. We have ample parking areas for residents and visitors.

Q. Is there a beauty parlor on site?
A. Yes, there is. It is open twice a week. Each resident makes his/her own appointment with the hairdresser. There are different fees for haircuts, perms, etc. This is billed to the resident at the end of each month.

Q. Once at Summerhill, may I change rooms?
A. Yes, residents may be notified when there is a vacancy, if they have indicated a preference to move, and the kind of room they prefer.

Q. Is there an area for walking?
A. There is a low traffic country road that passes in front of our building. Many residents take walks on this road in good weather. There are several walking parks and trails nearby.

Q. How will I find a doctor if I am from out of town?
A. We can give you a list of doctors and dentists who are accepting new patients. Most of the doctors are associated with the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough.

Q. Is Summerhill covered by Medicaid?
A. At the present time, we have not applied to be a Medicaid approved facility.

Q. Where do Summerhill residents come from?
A. We have residents from the Monadnock Region as well as other parts of New Hampshire, New England and the east coast.

Q. Where can I find out more about Peterborough and the surrounding areas?
A. The greater Peterborough area is dominated geographically by Mt. Monadnock. It is primarily rural with an abundance of open fields and forested foothills. The region is dotted with a classic small New England town, each with its own particular and defining history and development.
